MOV files

Postby Guytz72 » Fri Nov 11, 2011 11:15 am

Hi,

Can you tell me if your player will play MOV (quicktime) files? I have a website that will have videos uploaded from an iPhone in .MOV H.264 format and want to know if this is supported by your player.

There is no requirment for playback in iPhone/iPad browsers, this will be handled on the website by HTML5 (unless you are planning on adding HTML5 fallback :D ).

Many thanks in advance.

H.264 AVC (Advanced Video Coding) is MPEG-4 standard for video compression.
So whatever file extension is - this is MPEG-4 container. That's why most of video script use "mp4" file extensions, just not to mess up scripting part.
Anyway Nuevoplayer will accept files with ".mov" extension as well, but only if it is really h.264 encoded video.

You can always use Nuevoplayer wizard: http://www.nuevolab.com/wizard
type your video file full URL in "File to play" text box and click "Update" button, then try to play video and you will know.
For example if you type:
Code: Select all
http://www.nuevolab.com/newvideo/21.mov
- "mov" video will play.

Many thanks for the response.

I have a few more questions if ok:

1. Can the slomo be set to a different rate (either user specified or through configuration e.g.1/4, /12, 3/4 etc)
2. Is frame by fame possible?
3. Will the transformation matrix be taken into account in a MOV file (so if recorded in portrait on an iPhone, it will play correctly and not at 90 degrees in the player.

Thanks,
Andrew

There is no real "slomo" for flash players as also videos are not of that kind.
"slomo" used in flash is a trick that fires "pause" event every xxx milliseconds.
players cannot read frame by frame, only from keyframe to keyframe.
It's possible to change xxx millisecond, but the smaller number is - looks worse (jumping)

Don't even try to look for better solution as there is no such at the moment.
May tried with bitmap opeations, can look even good, but takes so much resources that is unacceptable for any computer machine. Can be used only with small animations and small size.

Also videos for web and mobile use should be separate files,
There is no universal solution and every video service does so, including those biggest like youtube.

Hi,

I tried through the wizard and unfortunately the videos recorded on the phone do not play, at least the images do not display. Sound is fine but and the scrubber moves but it does not display. I tired both MOV and an MP4 (H.264) that had been re-encoded on the iPhone.

These both work fine in Flowplayer, any ideas, or is this just a demo problem?

Thanks again.

Until you do not provide video URL we can't help in any way.

and http://80.90.199.93/24.mp4

http://80.90.199.93/25.mp4

Thanks

I have checked your not playing well videos detaily.
Both videos have corrupted metadata.
This usually happens when video was cut or joined and not re-encoded.

Such video will never play well with any player as information like video width, height and duration and completely bad. In case of your videos - width and height read from metadata are both "4294966937".
So imagine what happens when player attempts to assign such values in pixels...
That's why video picture is not visible, but sound is ok.

Unfortunately there is small chance to correct such corrupted metadata. Even Adobe official tool for metadata cannot do it. Then the only way is to re-encode such video.
